Spicewood, Texas

Spicewood, Texas

James B. Pangle opened up a small Post Office in Spicewood in 1899. Until the mid 1920s Spicewood was used primarily as a post town, but after surrounding towns fizzled out Spicewood began to build its own little community. Today Spicewood has become a favorite recreational destination for many enjoying Texas Hill Country water sports, fishing and hunting.

Nestled between Spicewood and Lake Travis, Krause Springs actually has 32 springs. Its main springs gushes at 70 gallons per minute through a 70-foot-long swimming pool, then dives down a 30-foot limestone cliff covered with ferns and mosses and splashes into a large natural pool on Little Cypress Creek.
